The hongkong prize is an award competition that recognizes writers who cover Asia and Hong Kong in their work. Winners receive cash awards and access to some of Hong Kong’s top research facilities. They also get the opportunity to meet prestigious people and broaden their perspectives. However, winning this competition isn’t for everyone – it requires a lot of talent and dedication. Before you decide to enter, make sure that you read the rules and regulations carefully. This will prevent you from making any costly mistakes that could compromise your chances of winning.
The competition is open to all artists residing in Hong Kong. The submission period ends on September 25, 2023. Artists must submit their artwork online before the submission deadline to be eligible. In addition to the prize money, shortlisted works will be displayed in a public exhibition. Applicants may submit up to two pieces of art per artist. In order to participate in the prize, entrants must first register for an account on ArtCall.
In the last decades of the 20th century, many of Hong Kong’s most influential writers moved abroad, where they established small overseas writer communities. These groups remained loyal to the spirit of Hong Kong’s literary culture, even though their authors departed from the island. Among them, the most popular was Zhang Ailing. Her anticommunist novel Yangge was widely read, both in Hong Kong and abroad.
In addition to honoring renowned researchers, the Hongkong prize celebrates Hong Kong as a center of science and technology. It also encourages young scholars to pursue their passions and build solid careers in Hong Kong. It is therefore important for Hong Kong to remain a world-class hub of scientific research.
BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE is hosted by Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation (HKATI) and sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. It is a merit-based, non-governmental award with the charter aiming at promoting scientific and standardized management of the prize.
A total of HK$200,000 is awarded to the winner each year and the prize money will be shared by the second and third place winners. The winning entry is judged by a panel of experts and will be announced at an award ceremony held each January.
